Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday launched Bengaluru’s first electric motorcars and 150 Bharat Stage-VI diesel motorcars.
According to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), the 90 electric motorcars funded under the Bengaluru Smart City Scheme will serve as confluent services, furnishing last– afar connectivity to the Bengaluru Metro.
“ The electric motorcars are non-AC, 9- cadence long with 33 1 seat. They’ve vehicle shadowing units, CCTVs, LED route display boards, and exigency fear buttons for passenger safety. These motorcars will be operated on three routes from Kengeri Depot — Kengeri to Banashankari, Kengeri to Electronic City, and Kengeri to Chikkabanavara,” BMTC officers said.
The Bengaluru Smart City Limited is furnishing fiscal backing to the tune of Rs 50 crore for the operation of these motorcars. M/s. NTPC Vyapar Vidyut Nigam Limited, a Government of India undertaking, will operate these motorcars 10 times on Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model at a rate ofRs.51.67 per km with electricity for 180 assured kilometers daily.
The BMTC has so far entered 40 electric motorcars and the remaining vehicles will be available by January coming time.
Meanwhile, the BMTC is earning 565 BS-VI diesel motorcars with fiscal backing of Rs 191 crore from the state government. “ These motorcars have 41 1 seats and come with an exigency fear button, hinder air suspense, and LED route display boards. They will be stationed for relief of old motorcars and addition of schedules,” a functionary explained.
So far, 150 BS-VI motorcars have been delivered while the remaining vehicles will be stationed by February coming time, BMTC said.
BMTC also plans to emplace mini motorcars which have a seating capacity of 20 during the coming time. Under the FAME-II scheme of the Government of India, BMTC will operate 300 electric motorcars on the GCC model.
“ The Centre will expend Rs 55 lakh while the state government will give Rs 33 lakh for the design. These motorcars will hit the roads by June coming time,” the functionary said.
