The aim of construction of townships in these 3 places around Bangalore; What other facilities including metro, ring road route?
Construction of townships in Bangalore: Bangalore is developing rapidly, and the government is planning to build townships in the major hoblis of the surrounding districts. DK Shivakumar has revived a scheme that was originally launched by the Kumaraswamy government. Here’s where these townships will be located.
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has decided to revive the township scheme that was formulated by the HD Kumaraswamy government two decades ago in 2006-2007. The DCM has instructed the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) to implement this two-decade-old plan to build townships in Bidadi and Solur in Ramanagara district and Nandagudi in Hoskote taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.
The government has selected three hoblis connected to the ring road for these townships. These townships will feature integrated facilities for mixed commercial activities, including logistics parks, data centers, and high-rise residential complexes.
Selection of National Highway Hubs:
The selected locations include Nandagudi in Hoskote taluk, where three national highways, including the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway, pass through; Solur near Nelamangala, where the Bangalore-Tumkur railway line passes; and Bidadi Hobli.
Appointment of Officers:
Officials responsible for the construction of the townships have already been appointed. After determining how much land is required for the construction, permission and notification for its acquisition will be issued. Only after this process will the Detailed Project Report (DPR) be prepared. The government has already appointed three land acquisition officers for this purpose. The engineering department has been informed, and the finance department has been approached for approval.
Plan for Construction of Ring Road:
A blueprint has been identified for the construction of a ring road that will pass through the taluks around Bangalore. This ring road will start near Satanur in Ramanagara district and will loop through Bidadi, Magadi, Solur, Dabaspet, Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Nandagudi, and Anekal taluk, before returning to Satanur.
The construction of this ring road will improve access to the interstate highway and the airport. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has already inspected the area twice.
Survey of Metro Connectivity Possibility:
BMRDA has written to the state and central governments to study the feasibility of connecting ‘Namma Metro’ to the newly constructed townships in Bidadi, Solur, and Nandagudi. Additionally, a proposal has already been submitted to the Jalmandal for providing water facilities to these areas.
Opposition from Environmentalists:
Environmental experts have expressed opposition to the construction of the Solur and Bidadi townships. Currently, there is no space to dispose of the garbage generated in Bangalore, and environmental pollution in the city is increasing. As if this isn’t bad enough, the new townships being built could further pollute the water bodies on the city outskirts. Most importantly, experts have warned that the existence of the Thippagondanahalli reservoir will be threatened.
