Gold seized at Bangalore Airport: Illegal gold smuggling has been increasing at Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport. Customs officials, who seized 40 iPhones and 5 Apple watches from a passenger arriving from Dubai on Wednesday, seized 2.579 kg of gold worth Rs 1.68 crore today.
Bengaluru, July 25: Customs officials on Thursday seized 2.579 kg of gold worth Rs 1.68 crore at Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. Murtazim Sheikh Mohammad Imran, who was transporting the gold, was arrested. The accused had arrived in Bangalore from Dubai on flight EK 564.

The accused had brought gold hidden in their clothes from abroad. Both are currently being interrogated by customs officials.
A case involving 40 iPhones and 5 Apple watches was found in the bag of a person from Dubai and was seized by customs officials just on Wednesday. Now, gold worth Rs 1.68 crore has been seized in a follow-up operation.
