Speed Limit Enforcement: 76 Drivers Booked Case on Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway
Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway: The traffic police, who had warned of strict action against speeders on the highways of Karnataka, have now started operations. FIRs are being registered against those who drive at a speed of more than 130 km per hour on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway.
Bengaluru, Aug 6: Karnataka police have booked 76 drivers on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway, days after warning of booking cases against those who drive over the 130 km/ph speed limit on highways. These cases were registered on August 1 and 2, when the new rule was enacted.
Most of the cases registered are against drivers of SUVs and MUVs. Last week, the Karnataka Police announced that they would file an FIR against drivers who exceed the speed limit of 130 km/ph on highways.
ADGP (Traffic and Road Safety) Alok Kumar said that when road accident fatalities were observed, it was found that almost 90 percent of the fatal accidents were due to speeding and overspeeding or negligent driving.
