Electric Double-Decker Buses in Bengaluru: Bengaluru BMTC double-decker bus running season is approaching. BMTC has already invited tenders and has proposed to buy 10 buses. Here is the information on this.
BENGALURU: Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, which is trying to introduce electric double-decker buses in the capital city of Bengaluru, will soon invite tenders for the procurement of 10 buses through gross cost contract (GCC).
The cabinet has also approved the plan already prepared by BMTC to provide double-decker bus service in areas with heavy traffic. In this background, necessary documents are being prepared to get 10 electric double-decker buses from GCC and the tender process will start soon.
Double-decker buses cannot pass through underpasses and other obstacles. Thus work has been done to identify easily accessible routes including the outer ring road of the city. BMTC bus color is final for double-decker buses. BMTC officials said that the design has not been finalized.
