Towing Resumes in Bengaluru: Over 100 Vehicles Towed in Just Two Days
Bengaluru, September 1: After a pause of two and a half years, towing operations have resumed in Bangalore, particularly in the Upparapet Traffic Police Station jurisdiction. In just two days, the number of towed vehicles has exceeded a hundred, compared to only 30 cases on a typical day before the break. Over 70 vehicles were towed yesterday alone. Two towing vehicles have been supplied by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for this operation.
Currently, towing is being enforced only within the Upparapet Traffic Police Station limits, and fines are being imposed solely for illegal parking. There are no additional charges for towing. A new parking complex has been constructed at Freedom Park, leading to a prohibition of parking on certain roads in the area.
Despite the parking restrictions within the Upparapet jurisdiction, motorists continue to park on the roads, necessitating the towing of vehicles.

On the first day of the operation, more than 300 towing cases were registered in Gandhinagar, with a focus on clearing illegally parked vehicles, especially in Gandhinagar and other areas under the Upparapet Police Station.
Officials have clarified that fines will be imposed for parking in prohibited spots, but no extra charges for towing will be levied during this period. The towing service aims to clear the streets to ensure smoother traffic flow.
Motorists are advised to utilize the new parking complex at Freedom Park and avoid parking in restricted areas or on the roads. Violators will be fined accordingly.
