Bangalore metro:

Bangalore Metro also officially known as Namma Metro, hence popularly known as Namma Metro, is the first rapid transit system in South India,

This Bangalore Metro was launched on October 2011 and is the 3rd most extended metro network in India with a distance of 56.1 km.

The service area is expanding year by year and it is estimated that this metro project will take 2030 to complete.

Bangalore Metro Map

This Bangalore Metro Map covers whole tracks of Namma Metro, also known as Nam Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bangalore, India. It currently has two operating lines, the Purple Line and the Green Line. The Purple Line runs from Baiyappanahalli to Mysore Road, while the Green Line runs from Nagasandra to Yelachenahalli.

The Govt of Karnataka was inspired by the success of the Delhi Metro and looking forward to it.

And finally, The Govt of Karnataka agreed with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited [BMRC] to create Metro Rapid Transit System in Bangalore city,

And this metro project was approved by the Govt of Karnataka in October 2011 and the first line of the metro section started between Baiyyappanahalli to MG Road,

Bangalore Metro Timings

It consists of approximately 6 metro stations, and 6.7 km of the purple line, and the expansion process of that line is going on.

Further, in 2014, a green line of 9.9 km including 10 metro stations was launched between Peenya Industry – Sampige Road.

The Green Line was extended from Bangalore’s North side towards Peenya Industry to Nagasandra for about 2.5 km including 3 stations.

In 2015, BMRC launched a 6.4 km route from Magadi Road to Mysore Road with 6 metro stations.

And for the first time, an underground metro line has been inaugurated connecting Magadi Road to MG Road Station, a 4.8 km stretch with 5 new underground stations.

Bangalore Metro Timings

The Government of Karnataka and BMRCL launched a transit rail system named “Namma Metro” and in 2011 integrated the first phase of metro services to some select areas and routes,

In them, the route is named by the BMRCL using different colors like purple, green, pink, yellow, etc. to easily identify the routes and their designated areas and more color lines will be added in the coming days.

Namma metro currently has a total of 2 metro lines, BMRCL is currently working on an extension of existing lines and adding 2 more lines one pink line and another yellow line.

Namma Metro will inaugurate 3 more metro stations in 2023 and start metro services from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield areas and from Nagasandra to BIEC, so Namma Metro will reach 100 km by December 2023.

Purple line

This metro line between Baiyappanahalli to Kengeri is named Purple Line this metro line consists of 22 metro stations, and trains take at least 10 minutes to reach from one station to another.

It was launched in 2014 and is a part of Namma metro’s major metro lines, And by 2023, these lines will cover a distance of 25.7 km and will cover 23 metro stations from Kengeri to Baiyappanahalli.

Green Line

This green line was launched in phase 1 of the metro launch and it connects a total of 30 stations and has a metro line length of 30.5 km.

  • It has an average of 2 lakh passengers per day.
