Dengue Cases on the Rise in Karnataka Amidst Increased Rainfall

Bengaluru, July 10: In the past 24 hours, 91 Dengue Cases have been detected in Bengaluru city alone, bringing the total number of dengue cases in the city to 2,174. Alarmingly, 82 children have contracted dengue within this period.

Dengue Cases on the Rise in Karnataka

The dengue epidemic has also created panic in Shimoga, where hundreds of cases are being reported daily, with children being particularly affected.

In a tragic incident, Rashmi, a resident of Rippon town in Hosanagar taluk, succumbed to the infection after suffering from high fever for the past 15 days. She passed away on Tuesday without receiving adequate treatment.

Task Force for Dengue Control

The increasing number of dengue cases has prompted significant concern within the government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had previously criticized IAS officers, held a meeting with health department officials on Tuesday to address the issue.

War Against Dengue

Dengue is more prevalent during the rainy season. As a result, the Chief Minister has suggested prioritizing cleanliness to prevent water stagnation and taking strict measures to eliminate mosquitoes. He proposed opening 10 separate dengue wards in each district and forming a task force dedicated to dengue control.

Since dengue is most prevalent in slums, the CM announced that mosquito nets would be distributed free of charge to slum dwellers.
