Enhanced Traffic Enforcement on NICE Road: ANPR Cameras and Speed Radar Guns to Curb Violations

Radar-embedded ANPR cameras are delivering good results on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway. Similarly, on NICE Road, cases will be automatically registered for rule violations such as speeding, not wearing seat belts, and using mobile phones. Additionally, it was found that trucks often violated lane rules.

Bengaluru, July, 18: On the Bangalore-Mysore Highway model, traffic violations, including speeding on NICE Road, will be recorded on cameras, and offenders will be fined. Four people were killed in two accidents on NICE Road on Monday. 

Excessive speed and careless driving were found to be the causes of both accidents. Against this backdrop, the police department has taken steps to ensure that traffic rules are not violated on NICE Road as well.

Additional Director General of Police (Traffic and Safety) Alok Kumar said, “There will soon be enforcement of traffic rules and excessive speeding regulations on NICE Road.

“The installation of radar-embedded ANPR cameras will help detect speeding vehicles on NICE Road. Radar-embedded ANPR cameras installed on the Bangalore-Mysore highway are yielding good results.

We are registering cases of excessive speed, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seat belts and other traffic rule violations. ‘As I have personally observed, heavy vehicles like trucks frequently violate traffic rules and cause accidents,’ he said.”

“ANPR cameras detect all violations except speeding. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M.N. Anucheth, said that speed radar guns will be installed immediately to detect speeding on NICE Road.

‘The maximum speed limit for vehicles on NICE Road is 100 km/h,’ said another senior police officer.

According to the guidelines, slow-moving and heavy vehicles should stay in the left lane, medium-speed vehicles should use the middle lane, and high-speed vehicles should take the right lane.”
