BMTC Jigani Unit Scandal: Seven officers of the BMTC Jigani unit have been suspended for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹ 1.5 crore from the staff of the organization through a mobile payment app.

BENGALURU: Seven officers and staff of BMTC Jigani Unit (Unit 27) have been suspended for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹ 1.5 crore from the staff of the organization through a mobile payment app.

Manjula R, Junior Assistant Pritam, Manoj Kumar LS, Suma A, Shanthava, Assistant Accountant Dhananjaya V., and Assistant Artisan Devaraj G. of the Ghee Unit have been suspended.

Complaints were received from colleagues about the accused depositing money through a mobile payment app and engaging in a digital money business. When questioned about this, the accused who concealed the truth escaped disciplinary action.

Again the security and vigilance team of BMTC has investigated this. When the bank records of seven people were checked, it was proved that the accused had received bribes through a mobile payment app.

Around ₹ 1.5 crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of the seven accused. BMTC sources said that the amount was found to have been invested online.

It has been decided to conduct a departmental inquiry and take disciplinary action against all these accused. The BMTC Managing Director said in the order that the accused have been suspended for inquiry.
