Massive Rs 1,000 Crore Development Plan for KSR Bangalore City Railway Station Unveiled

Bengaluru, July 3, 2024: A detailed master plan is being finalized for the KSR Bangalore City Railway Station, which is set for massive development at a cost of around Rs 1,000 crore.

The plan includes a proposed skywalk in front of the main entrance of the railway station, connecting it with the Majestic Kempegowda Metro Station. The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the scheme. The station witnesses an average daily traffic of 1.75 lakh passengers.

Bangalore Divisional Railway Manager Yogesh Mohan said that this project will completely transform the station. It will be implemented in a phased manner, with portions being demolished and reconstructed without disturbing the public.

The second entrance (Platform No. 5) is slated for complete renovation, and a multi-level car parking facility will also be developed.

A new feature will be the wide air concourse connecting the two ends of the station above the railway tracks, spanning more than 100 meters and equipped with all necessary amenities.

Other Passenger Amenities:

The capacity of the waiting halls will be significantly increased. There will be three waiting halls spread across the station, ensuring that the public does not have to walk long distances to access them.

Pick-up and drop-off points will be available in front of the station, and basement parking will be introduced to accommodate more vehicles near the main entrance.

Many food courts will also be opened. Additionally, the KSR Railway Station will be connected via a skywalk to the station of the upcoming Suburban Rail Project. There is also a proposal to upgrade the entrance gate at MG Railway Colony to facilitate easier access to the station.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) Parikshit Mohan Puria mentioned that the exact cost of the project is yet to be finalized. “We have four floors covering 62,296 square meters, which will be opened up for offices, shops, and other commercial establishments,” he said.
