Circular Rail Network in Bengaluru: In a strategic move to address Bangalore’s constant traffic congestion, the Union Ministry of Railways has announced plans to set up a ‘circle rail’ network spanning around 287 km in the city’s outskirts.
The proposed circular railway network will connect major areas including Nidvanda-Doddaballapur (40.9 km), Doddaballapur-Devanahalli (28.5 km), Devanahalli-Malur (46.5 km), Malur-Helilig (52 km), Hejjala-Solur (43.5 km). , Soluru-Nidawanda (34.2 km), and Hejjala-Helaligi (42 km).
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, after holding a comprehensive review meeting with departmental officials, said, “The central government has earmarked Rs 7 crore for the pre-feasibility study and alignment study of the circular railway line. While the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Site Suburban Railway Project is a collaborative effort between the Central and State Governments, the expansion of the circular railway is spearheaded by the Union Ministry of Railways.

Suburban Railway Project Progress
Addressing the progress of the suburban railway project, Minister Vaishnav emphasized its importance to the city of Bangalore. The Suburban Rail Project is a critical initiative for Bangalore. We are committed to its effective implementation, he said. Responding to concerns over project delays, he acknowledged the technical challenges reported by K-Ride, a joint venture between the state government and the Ministry of Railways. “This is a technical project that requires in-depth knowledge. I will engage in discussions with the state government to resolve these issues,” he said.
Yeshwantpur World Class Station
Minister Vaishnav announced the development of Yeshwantpur railway station into a world-class facility, with an investment of Rs 377 crore.
While inspecting the Yeshwantpur Junction railway station, he highlighted its importance, “Yeshwantpur railway station is a crucial hub for trains connecting Hassan, Tumkur, Hubli-Dharwad and New Delhi. The current development aims to transform it into a world-class station.”
Ensuring Future Readiness
Emphasizing the need for forward-looking planning, Minister Vaishnav said, “The station will have two-way entrances, a spacious rooftop plaza for comfortable waiting, play areas for children, and a platform to display and sell local products. We need to ensure availability. Land to handle future traffic, a strategic plan for expansion to accommodate growth in the coming years. ”
