New Parking Rules at Bengaluru Airport: Fines for Over 5-Minute Stays
Bengaluru Airport Vehicle Parking Penalty: A fixed time has been given for parking vehicles on the road in front of the terminal of Bengaluru Airport. The Kempegowda International Airport Authority has proposed imposing a fine if the vehicle is parked for a long time. Here is the information about this.
Bengaluru Airport Vehicle Parking Penalty:
The Kempegowda International Airport Authority (KIA) has proposed imposing fines on vehicles parked for more than 5 minutes on the arrival and departure lines of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
Penalties:
– Rs 150 for parking 5-10 minutes.
– Rs 300 for parking 10-14 minutes.
– Vehicles parked for more than 15 minutes will be impounded.
However, KIA has not yet fixed the implementation date for this rule.
Exemptions:
This rule is likely to be implemented in Terminals 1 and 2. Currently, private vehicles are given free entry for up to 7 minutes. The above charges do not apply to cabs and private cars that drop passengers at the departure gates.
Entry Fees Consideration:
– Rs 600 for buses.
– Rs 300 for Tempo Travelers.

Unauthorized taxi drivers often park their vehicles for long hours near the arrival lines at night, leading to congestion and problems. The penalty is being introduced to avoid such situations. A similar measure was implemented a few months ago, and discussions are ongoing with the government, according to KIA sources.
Eshita Dhamija, a cab passenger, commented, “5 minutes is not enough in many cases where things have to be carried. Passengers and taxi drivers will suffer due to the new rule.”
Case Against 28 Drivers:
On Saturday night, the East Traffic Division police conducted a special operation to identify those driving under the influence of alcohol and registered cases against 28 drivers. This operation was conducted throughout the night in various police stations of the Eastern Traffic Division, checking 735 motorists. During this time, cases were registered against 28 drivers who were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police stated that cases have been registered against the drunk drivers, and their vehicles have been impounded. The RTO offices will be recommended to cancel the driving licenses (DL) of these motorists.
