Bangalore Kambala: A good start for Bengaluru Kambal amid rain challenges
Bangalore Kambala: In a historic first for the state capital Bengaluru, the Coastal Sports Kambala Games were rained out, as symbolic corner runs were conducted to ensure fitness for the sport on a 155-metre hard track constructed in an open enclosure at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds, as the Kambala event took place amid heavy rain.
In the afternoon, there was sudden wind and rain, and those in the plains took shelter. Despite the weather, the carpet event went on smoothly.
The inauguration program was witnessed by former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, MP Sadananda Gowda, Minister Shobha Karandlaje, MLA SR Vishwanath, and Bangalore Carpet Committee President Ashok Kumar Rai. Dr. Kambala Kere. Punit Rajkumar’s wife Ashwini Punit Rajkumar started the Buffalo race by lighting a lamp.

A large crowd is expected at the palace grounds to watch the carpet tournament, prompting heavy police deployment. Traffic police are ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules and spectators are allowed to enter through gates 1, 2, 3, and 4.
A separate entry is arranged for VVIPs to enter without any ticket and they have to enter from the Fun World side. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah arrived at Kambala Maidan at 6.30 pm.
Dignitaries including Anushka Shetty, Pooja Hegde, actor Darshan Kantara, actor Rishabh Shetty, Rakshit Shetty, Upendra, Shivanna, Ashish Ballal, Raj B Shetty, Megha Shetty are participating in the Coastal Carpet Festival.
Dignitaries including Anushka Shetty, Rishabh Shetty, Pooja Hegde, and Vivek Oberoi will cheer for the carpet program which will be held today and tomorrow.
Prizes for winning corners are as follows:
– First Prize: 16 grams gold and 1 lakh cash
– Second prize: 8 grams of gold and 50,000 cash
– Third prize: 4 grams of gold and 25,000 cash.
