Bangalore Metro Pink Line: Almost 90% of the tunnel work has been completed

 Bangalore Metro Pink Line tunnel work in Bangalore is going on at a fast pace and most of the work has been completed, 90% of this challenging work has been completed.

Expected to be completed by the end of next year, we have to wait another 2 years for completion of all the other works including track installation, Vidyath connection, SIGWAL system, and its inauguration.

Bengaluru, Dec 15: Executed in four different packages for Rs 11,500 crore, the project stretches 13.9 km from Dari Circle to Nagawara, establishing the country’s longest metro tunnel. Of the nine Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) employed, seven have completed their tasks, covering 18,832.30 meters of the 20,992-meter tunnel. At present the rest of the work on Bhadra and Tunga TBMs is in progress.

TBM ‘Avani’ and ‘Lavi’ Rudra TBM successfully excavated a 2.7 km tunnel from South Rarayamp Dairy Circle to Lakkasandra, intricate details of tunneling activities reveal. Notably, ‘Varada’ completed the 594m tunnel from the National Military School to Langford Town on the same route.

‘Oorja’ has been working in two drives and has dug an underground passage from Dandu Railway Station to Shivajinagar and Dandu Railway Station – Shadi Mahal Shaft Station. Elsewhere ‘Vindhya’ TBM has been tunneled from the Cantonment to Shivajinagar and from the Cantonment to the Shadi Mahal shaft. The Wamika TBM tunneled from South Raryamp to Longford Town Station. More than 650 engineers and civil staff are working hard daily for the construction of this underground route.

How much work is pending?:

Bhadra TBM Venkateswarapur – KG village 10% work pending, besides KG village – Nagawara 935 meters work pending (south side). Tunga TBM has 939 meters pending work between KG village – Nagawara (northern side).
