The renowned Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is gearing up to accept applications for the allocation of ready-to-build plots in the Shivram Karanta Layout. Out of a total of 34,000 plots, the authority will make approximately 10,000 plots available, inviting applications from the public.

Around 17,000 developed plots will be given to farmers who contributed land for the Layout spread across 2,782 acres. This includes over four thousand corner plots and around three thousand ore and kore sites. The remaining 10,000 plots will be open for public allotment by the authority, with various plot sizes ranging from 30-40 to 40-60 in the Layout.

Priority will be given for plot allotment based on reservations for special needs, ex-servicemen, scheduled castes and tribes, state and central government employees, senior citizens, etc. Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who have previously applied for a plot in different districts of the authority, such as Arkavati District and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda District but have been unable to purchase a plot.

Despite the public’s trust in BDA layouts over private ones due to perceived transparency, acquiring a plot in Shivram Karanta Layout remains challenging. The price of plots in this Layout is anticipated to be twice as high as those in previous BDA-built barangays, with rates expected to be fixed at 4,900 per sq.ft., making it a costly venture for the common man.

The settlement spans 17 villages between Doddaballapur and Hersaghatta in North Bangalore, with land acquired from farmers for the construction of the Layout. The acquisition process began in 2008, resulting in the construction of 2,782 acres of the acquired land. Although some plots have been developed, there are still vacant spaces and room for CA plots in the remaining acquired land.
