Challenges and Delays in Completing Blue Line Extension of Bangalore Metro to Kempegowda International Airport

Bangalore Metro to Kempegowda International Airport: It is estimated that it will take another three to four years to complete the blue line of Namma metro connecting the Kempegowda International Airport. The main reason for this is that although the construction work of the pillars has been completed, only the cap installation work is going on at a snail’s pace. After that, rail alignment, arrangement, and signaling system should be completed.

Why is the work delayed?

The main reason for the delay in this route is the land acquisition process. A total of 274 properties were to be acquired for this project. Out of which 214 properties are private and 60 properties belong to the government. Locals say BMRCL has taken too long to buy private properties.

Delay in permission for railway crossing at Doddajala, relocation of Gale gas pipeline near Airbase, long time for handover of land from Yalahanka Airbase, stoppage of work near Jakkuru Plantation for many months, Hebbal land acquisition process, all these reasons led to delay. work

There has been a tug-of-war between KRpura-Kempegowda International Airports for the construction of Bettahalasur station. After this, in January 2023, a mother and a child died when the iron bars of a metro pillar suddenly collapsed near the HBR layout of Nagawara Ring Road. Because of this, the work was stopped for three months.
