Bangalore Namma Metro-2 Yellow Line Infrastructure Completed: IT employees moving from the heart of the city to Electronic City are eagerly waiting for the start of metro service. Although most employees have cab facilities, they are stuck in traffic jams and suffer. Disappointment for those who were waiting for the metro to start. It is estimated that around 3.70 lakh people can travel on this route.

Bengaluru, Dec 12: The city’s R.V. The road work connecting our much-awaited Metro Yellow line to Bommasandra is crawling and we have to wait another six months for train services. People who were waiting for the train to arrive were tired of the delay.

16 stations have been constructed on this route and a lot of work is pending at all the stations. While the track is being built to run driverless trains, the trains are still under construction. Officials say that due to all these reasons, train traffic is getting delayed a lot.

The civil work of this line started in June 2017 and the two contracted companies are carrying out the work in three phases. A deadline of 36 months was given to complete the work. However, the public is disappointed with the metro work as the work has not been completed even after an additional 36 months. and costing 4,255 crores for the construction of this route.

Why are things slow?

In 2019, China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) signed a contract to supply 216 coaches (36 train sets) for the route through Titagar Wagons, which has its manufacturing plant near Kolkata. However, the route operation was delayed as the company did not hand over the coaches to BMRCL on time.

According to BMRCL sources, the first set of this line will arrive from China by the end of this month. The rest will be delayed. Earlier we thought that all the bogies would be available by September. But it is not possible. Bogies should be inspected and tested for at least three months after arrival. Hence, it is said that the traffic will be delayed on this route.

Station works pending

Major stations of this route such as Jayanagar Hospital Station, Central Silk Board, and Infosys Station have a lot of pending work and the work is going on. Many works including electrical work, escalator, lift are to be done in all the facilities. Some stations are being painted. The work of painting the pillars near the Infosys station is going on.

IT employees are living in hope

The 4.55 lakh passengers per day by 2031 and 5.02 lakh by 2041 are expected to use Metro Rail.
