BMTC fined 3,767 passengers in November and collected a fine of Rs 7 lakh

BMTC fined Passengers: In November, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) took action against passengers for various rule violations, intensive checks were conducted 3,329 cases of ticketless traveled passengers were detected and a fine of Rs 7 lakh was collected. Additionally, cases have been registered against conductors for dereliction of duty.

BMTC fined Passengers

Bengaluru, December 12: BMTC has taken action against 3,767 passengers who violated various rules in November. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) said on Tuesday that a total of Rs 7 lakh has been collected as fines.

The inspection staff fined 438 male passengers for occupying seats reserved for women, Rs 43,800 as per Karnataka Motor Vehicle Rules.

In a related development, the Karnataka government has reportedly refunded Rs 1,669.45 crore to four state transport corporations including BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC for free tickets issued under the Shakti Yojana.

Since its inception in June 2023, these corporations have provided free tickets worth Rs 2,671 crore. The Shakti Yojana will enable free travel on all government regular buses in Karnataka, benefiting 111 crore women passengers by December 10. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy shared this information during the winter session in Belgaum.
